Died: Wednesday February 27, 2008 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.
Fern was born August 16, 1909 in the Township of Red Cedar, Dunn County. She was the daughter of William and Carrie (Lerum) Johnstone. Fern grew in the Menomonie area and attended local schools. Fern married Morris Olson September 7, 1927 in Menomonie. After marriage they moved to a lake home near Spooner for several years. They later moved to Phoenix, AZ and they later divorced. Fern lived in Phoenix approximately 20 years before moving to Waupun to live with her brother, Ben. Fern married Aellie Schimmel January 15, 1962 in Waupun. Together they made their home in Shoto. Shortly after Aellie’s death in 1986, Fern moved to Menomonie in 1987 where she has remained the rest of her life.
Fern is survived by three nieces, JoAnn (Syd) Bjorkman of Amery; Phyllis Erickson of Amery; Marlas Ranke of Menomonie; a great niece, Shelby Schamens of Eau Claire; two great nephews Larry Williams of Menomonie; Tom Olson of Louisville, KY; and other great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Aellie; a daughter Marjorie Adair; three brothers, Ben, Robert & Clarence Johnstone; two sisters, Mabel Hintzman and Nora Dale.
