John W Feuker

John W. Feuker, age 69 of Elmwood, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN, with his family by his side.

John was born on January 9, 1943 on the home farm in the Town of Weston, rural Elmwood, where he lived his entire life. He was the son of Wilbur and Agnes (Bates) Feuker. John attended the Nippersink country school in Weston, where he was the last class to graduate. John then graduated from Elmwood High School in 1960 where he was a natural athlete who excelled in sports, especially football and wrestling. After high school, John stayed and farmed on the home farm. John married Kathleen Erickson on September 11, 1965 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage, they continued to farm and raise their family in the Town of Weston. Over John’s life he hired many area youth, demonstrating a good work ethic and love of agriculture. In return, he stayed young at heart and gained many life long friendships. John’s last day of work was Wednesday, April 11 when he spent seven hours on the tractor, working the land he loved.

John was a life long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood where he served as Parish Council President. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Elmwood Council and served as Grand Knight. He was a 4-H leader, a board member for Town of Weston and he was active in leadership roles with Dairy Farmers of America. John loved to cut wood, make maple syrup, and drive draft horses. Most of all he loved to spend time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy, two children; Craig (Andrea) of Elmwood and Anita Feuker of Silver City, NM, three granddaughters; Libby, Hannah and Katie, all at home, one brother; Bernard (Gail) of Chippewa Falls, one sister; Kathy (Lynn) Erickson of Albuquerque, NM, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Rosanna Einum and Mary Lou Kurschinski.
