Walter A Bechel

Walter A. Bechel age 83 of Elmwood, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Walter was born April 19, 1929 in Plum City. He was the son of Mattie and Frances (Schmitt) Bechel. Walter grew up in the Plum City area. On June 6, 1959 he married Lorraine (Taylor) Pizzi. After marriage, they made their home in Elmwood. On May 15, 2007 Walter became a resident of the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home, where he remained the rest of his life.

Walter farmed in the Elmwood area for several years and sold the farm in 1987 and retired to Elmwood.

Walter enjoyed going to auctions, playing cards and going to the casino. He loved to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Walter loved to play bingo at the nursing home to win treats to give to them and they always brought him a smile!

Walter is survived by two sons, Chuck (Sharon) Pizzi of Roberts; Scott (Cindy) Bechel of Spring Valley; four daughters, Judy (Wes) Wentlandt of New Richmond; Sharon (Dennis) Sinz of Elmwood; Tammy (Dave) Hofacker of Menomonie; Cindy (Don) Jensen of Spring Valley; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one brother, Bernard (Marge) of Elmwood; two sisters-in-law, Zeona Bechel of Ellsworth and Irma (Eugene) Helmueller of Plum City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lorraine in 2001; one grandson, Patrick Pizzi; a great granddaughter, Stephanie Gerhardt and one brother, Edward Bechel.
