Steven W Abing

Steven W. Abing, age 64, of Rock Falls died Monday July 9, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire surrounded by his family.

Steve was born February 10, 1948 in Lancaster, but grew up mostly in the Platteville area. He was the son of Francis and Mary (Margan) Abing. Steve graduated from Platteville High School in 1966 and went onto college at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, graduating with a Civil Engineering Degree in 1971. Steve married Sue Weber on August 29, 1970 in Burlington, WI. After marriage they moved to Eau Claire where Steve began his career working with the State of Wisconsin, Dept. of Transportation as a Civil Engineer serving as a project engineer and later as a supervisor. In 1977, they moved to their hobby farm in Rock Falls where he raised cattle, pigs, chickens and cats. Steve retired after 30+ years of working for the State of Wisconsin.

Steve was an avid Packer Fan and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed reading, deer hunting, playing cribbage, doing Sudoku puzzles, traveling and walking his beloved golden retrievers, Maggie and Sammie.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sue; his father, Francis Abing of Platteville; 5 brothers, Terry of Platteville; Greg (Carolyn) of Lancaster; Dan (Nita) of Grandview, MO; Tim (Kathi) of Wheat Ridge, CO; Kevin (Laura) of Milwaukee; 5 sisters, Ann Weaver of DeForest; Rita (Mike) Nell of Pewaukee; Susan Abing of Sun Prairie; Eileen (Mark) Frank of Dodgeville; Carol Abing of Milwaukee; brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Ann) Weber of Sun City Center, FL; Mary (Chilito) Rodriguez of Schiller Park, IL; Patricia (Phil Galletto) Weber of Ridgeway; Kathy (John Epple) Rider of Germantown; Steve (Terri) Weber of Janesville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Mary in 2000; his father and mother-in-law, Elmer "Butch" and June Weber and brother-in-law, Patrick Rider.
