Dorothy L Bowman
Dorothy L. Bowman, 89, of Durand, WI peacefully left her earthly home to join her husband in the mansion just over the hilltop on August 24, 2012.
Dorothy was born August 2, 1923 in Lafayette, Indiana, the only child of Clarence and Elizabeth Pierce. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette in 1941 and attended Indiana Business College to study bookkeeping. Following graduation she was employed at the Lafayette Life Insurance Co. She was married to Robert Bowman on December 11, 1945 and they were together for 60 years. They were the proud parents of 5 children. Dorothy was a stay at home Mom until her children were all in school. She was bookkeeper for Niehoff TV for several years and a teller at Security Financial Bank for many years. Bob & Dorothy enjoyed many winters in Fort Myers Florida following retirement. Her greatest joy was her family. There was always lots of fun and card games at family gatherings. Bob and Dorothy were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church of Durand. Dorothy was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to many. She was kind to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her children and grandchildren: Linda (Lanny) Deters of Sparta, WI., their children, Heidi (Randy) Sullivan and family, Tony (Melissa) Deters and family; Janice (Richard) Bates of Durand, WI., their children, Chris (Jennifer) Bates, Michael (Lisa) Bates & family, Jana (Randy) Nyhagen and family; Judith (Keith) Swenson of Balsam Lake, WI., and her sons, Nick (Sona) Brantner and family, James (Jennifer) Brantner and family, Mark (Kelly) Brantner and family; Thomas (Debbie) Bowman of Charlotte, NC and their children, Tommy Bowman, Bobby Bowman & Kristen Bowman; Barbara (Richard) Kuss of River Falls, WI and her children, Shannon Prissel and family and James (Tracy) Prissel and family. Dorothy & Bob have thirteen grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Ruth Bowman and family and Gerry Lou Bowman and family of Ohio, and relatives in Indiana.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2004, her parents Clarence & Elizabeth Pierce, and 2 brothers-in-law Donald and Jerry Bowman.
