Douglas W Brunner

Douglas W. Brunner, age 76, of Arkansaw, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand, with his family by his side.

Douglas was born March 1, 1936 to William and Mildred (Meixner) Brunner. He grew up and lived his entire life in the Arkansaw area. In 1960, Douglas married Elaine Schrader at St. Joseph’s Church in Arkansaw and was blessed with four children. Douglas hauled can milk for Tarrant Creamery for five years. He worked for Bauer Built Retread for two years. He also hauled bulk milk for six years, and had many good visits with his patrons. He farmed in rural Arkansaw until his retirement in 1998.

Douglas enjoyed combining, silo filling, field work, horses, and nice cars. He loved to share a joke or story with friends. He liked western movies of Roy Rogers and Gene Autry along with their horses Trigger and Champion. But most of all he truly loved spending time with his grandchildren. Douglas was a man who loved his Lord, he passed that faith on to his family and he was a life-long member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. He will truly be missed.

Douglas is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Elaine; four children Laurie (Jeffrey) Heit of Plum City and their children Kevin (Mesa) with their children Madison and Jameson, Kyle, Kelsey, Kassandra, and Kraig; Jeff (Rose) Brunner of Arkansaw and their children Michael, Amanda, and McKayla; Joan (Tim) Kortbein of Warrens and their sons Matthew and Mark; and Linda Brunner and her son Spencer of Eau Claire. He is also survived by his two sisters Yvonne (John) Herpst of Mondovi, Natalie Endl of Eau Claire, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger and two brothers-in-law Kenny Endl and Don Schrader.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. Rev. Paul Czerwonka will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
