Leslie "Burr" Yarrington

Leslie "Burr" Yarrington, age 89 of Strum, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi with his beloved children by his side.

Burr was born November 23, 1922 in the Town of Maxville, rural Buffalo County. He was the son of Leslie and Alice (Yarrington) Yarrington. He grew up in the Durand area and attended Spring Creek country school. Burr joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in Germany during WWII. He was Honorably Discharged in 1947. Burr married Esther Emma Oesau on March 26, 1949 in Gilmanton. After marriage, they farmed in various places and raised their family. In 1974, they moved to Strum, where Burr worked at the sawmill in Strum until his retirement.

Burr was a man of many talents, especially engineering and woodworking. He was very inventive with his mind and hands. Burr was a quiet and humble man who enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Burr is survived by his children; Wilhelmina (Steven Anderson) Erb of Mondovi, Alvin (Elaine) of Eleva, Arnold of Pleasantville, Karen (Mike) Dahlby of Holcombe, Allen Sr. of Pleasantville, Merlyn (Theresa) of Morton, MS and Gail (Bob) Dewitz of Augusta, 27 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, two brothers; Dean of Nelson and Neil (Beverly) of Wanda, MN, one sister; Bonnie Johnson of Durand, sister-in-law; Delores Oesau of Cochrane, brother-in-law; Henry Schroeder of Pepin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Esther (2005), two great grandchildren; Adyn Yarrington and Emily Yarrington, grandson-in-law; Jason Rundle, two sisters; Evelyn Worley and Leona Zeilinger and one brother; Leon.
