Kathryn C Hovland
Kathryn C. Hovland, age 92 of Durand, died Wednesday, November 15, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire after a brief illness.
Kathryn was born on October 16, 1920 in North Dakota. She was the daughter of Bert and Phoebe (Manore) Metcalf. She moved to Durand as a small child and spent the rest of her life there. On September 21, 1939, Kathryn married James Hovland in Lake City, MN, embarking on a journey of 26 years until James passed away on June 3, 1965. They rest of Kathryn’s years were spent raising her five children and spoiling all of her grandchildren.
Kathryn is survived by her children; Robert Hovland, Mary (Gary) Pfeiffer, Buck (Special Friend, Lynette) Hovland and Jon Hovland, all of Durand, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law; Rosemary Metcalf of Durand, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; James, one daughter and son-in-law; Myrna and Glen Anderson, her parents; Bert and Phoebe and eight brothers and sisters.
Kathryn was a very special woman and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed!
An informal gathering for family and friends will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Masonic Lodge in Durand. No cards or flowers please.
