Hubert J Sabelko
Hubert J. Sabelko, age 89 of Mondovi, formerly of Durand, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi, with his family by his side.
Hubert was born on February 25, 1923, in the Township of Lima. He was the son of Charles Sr. and Julia (Bauer) Sabelko. He grew up in the Lima area and attended a country school and Sacred Heart School in Lima. Hubert worked at several local farms before buying a farm in the Town of Lima. He married Evelyn M. "Blondie" Gruber on June 4, 1946 at Holy Rosary Church in Lima. After marriage, they continued to farm and raise their family. Hubert sold the farm to his son Ron and continued to help farm and take care of his gardens.
Hubert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Hubert is survived by his children: Gary (Rose) and Judy (Steve) Larson both of Mondovi, Dave (Maria) of Warner Robins, GA, Linda (Bill) Weisenbeck of Nelson, Ron (Renee) and Sue (Paul) Hoch both of Durand, Deb (Bill) Dupuis of Irmo, SC, Barb McCann of Colorado Springs, CO, Denise (Curt) Weisenbeck and Ruth (Jim) Melstrom both of Durand, 33 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three brothers; Ralph (Janice) and Charles (Elaine), both of Durand, Edward (Marlene) of Menomonie, three sisters; Kathleen Kelly of Menomonie, Dorothy (Don) Klein of Durand and Juliana (Herb) Tschumperlin of Plum City, one sister-in-law; Lucyann Sabelko, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Blondie, two daughters in infancy, one brother; William, one sister-in-law; Betty Sabelko and one brother-in-law; Bill Kelly.
