Kenneth R "Ken" Patrow
Kenneth R. "Ken" Patrow, age 71 of Durand, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his home in Durand.
Ken was born on June 1, 1941 in Durand. He was the son of George and Faye (Rutledge) Patrow. Ken grew up in Wabasha. At the age of 17, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in Germany until being honorably discharged in 1964. Ken then went to work for contractors and was a member of the IBEW Local 160 in Minneapolis. On February 24, 1968 Ken married Gertrude Severson at Lyster Lutheran Church in Nelson. After marriage, Ken then went to work for Northern States Power and lived in Durand where they raised their family. Ken retired from NSP in 2006.
Ken enjoyed walking his dog, Toby and having coffee with the guys at the station. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Ken is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gertrude, two children; Nora (Clay) Meadows of Fredericksburg, TX and Randy (Fiancé Tammy Mears) of Ellsworth, two grandchildren; Makayla and Khloe, one brother; DuWaine Patrow of Kellogg, MN and one sister; Shirley Schroeder of Monticello, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
