Giles P Milliren

Giles Phillip Milliren, age 80 of Arkansaw, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Giles was born on September 16, 1932 on the family farm in Arkansaw. He was the son of Fred and Mary (Brenner) Milliren. Giles grew up on the farm in Arkansaw and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1950. After high school, Giles worked on the family farm until purchasing a farm in Arkansaw in 1955. Giles married Shirley Bucher on August 10, 1955 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw. He and Shirley lived and worked on their farm where they raised their family. Maple syrup production was a big part of Giles life; he continued the syrup business for over 50 years until being limited by his illness.

Giles was a life long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus; he served on the Pepin County Board of Supervisors, the Waterville Township Board, AMPI Board and the Wisconsin Maple Council.

Giles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley, his six children; Tom (Susan) of Arkansaw, Gail (Brad) Saueressig of Hastings, MN, Rose (Gary) Weisenbeck of Nekoosa, Tim (Julie) and Sam (Andrea), both of Arkansaw and Irene (Chris) Vance of Eau Claire, 13 grandchildren; Todd (Tracy), Sara (Jeff), Shelly (Larry), Carrie (Jason), Jeremy (Tiffannie), Garret, Carley, Morgan, Alexa, Preston, Lauren, Mackenzie, Jaxon, eight great grandchildren, one brother; Bernard (Darlene) of Arkansaw, one sister; Mary Jane (Robert) Singerhouse of Menomonie, one sister-in-law, Cecelia Milliren of Plum City, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Amanda Ann Milliren, three brothers; Claire, Roy and Martin, two sisters; Lucille Bechel and Marcella Glaus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw. Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
