Florence E "Betty" Grochowski
Florence E. "Betty" Grochowski, age 91 of Durand, passed away into God's loving hands on April 15, 2013 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
Betty was born on August 2, 1921 in Durand. She was the daughter of Richard and Marie "Mayme" (Weisenbeck) Black. She grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School. Betty then attended Winona Business College and graduated with a degree in business. She married Lambert "Blackie" Grochowski in 1943. Betty worked at the Jack Sprat and the Red and White grocery stores in Durand. She also spent 31 years working at A.E. Polzer's Garage in downtown Durand, retiring 1986.
Betty was very active in her church at St. Mary's, singing in the choir and volunteering many hours at the Oakview Care Center.
Betty is survived by her son; Bert (Joyce) of Arkansaw, two grandchildren; Tammy (Kenny) Lampro and Terry (Bernadette), both of Arkansaw, two great grandchildren; Megan and Caleb, two step great grandchildren; Sara and Shaun and four great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Blackie, one sister; Marie Fredrickson-Brantner and one nephew Bill Fredrickson.
