Rickie A "Rick" Walker
Rickie A. "Rick" Walker age 65 of Menomonie, died Thursday May 2, 2013 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie with his family by his side.
Rick was born on January 22, 1948 in Durand. He was the son of Reuben and Hazel (Johnson) Walker. He grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1967. Rick married Nancy Berger on June 27, 1970 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima, rural Durand, they later moved to Menomonie. Rick worked at Durand Builders, Durand Stockyards and Swiss Miss/ConAgra, where he worked until retiring in October of 2011. Nancy passed away in 1995.
Rick enjoyed playing sports; in high school he played football, basketball, baseball and track. He holds several records, he played on the All-State Football Team and was awarded the Senior Athletic Award. He also enjoyed playing in several softball leagues and loved to play golf. Rick and his family spent many years of camping at Birch Point in Bloomer. He also liked to fish and hunt. Rick was an avid Brewer, Packer and Badger fan.
Rick is survived by his children; Taryn (Terry) Griffith of Gackle, ND, Katie (Tony Kern) Walker and Travis Walker, both of Menomonie, four grandchildren; Ashley, Hunter, Trey and Shelby, one great granddaughter; Maci, one sister; Margie (Glen) Weber of St. Paul Park, MN, brother-in-law; John (Nancy) Berger of Apple Valley, MN, five sisters-in-law; Flo Walker of Duluth, MN, Barb (Larry) Traun, Peg (Gordy) Schlosser, both of Durand, Cindy Berger of Rochester, MN and Connie (Terry) Weber of Eau Galle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Nancy, two brothers; Ronald and Russell Walker and two sisters; Marian Smith and Bonita Walker in infancy.
