Darrell  Weisenbeck

Darrell James Weisenbeck, 85 of Durand, WI., passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Wabasha, MN.

He was born April 23, 1928 in the town of Maxville to Matson and Lucy, (Weber), Weisenbeck, the eldest of eight children.

Darrell lived all of his life in the Durand area and married Thelma Gasteyer on August 30, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Durand, where he was a lifelong member. They farmed in the Durand area all of their lives. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

Darrell’s passions in life were faith, family, and his farm.

He is survived by his wife Thelma, of 63 years; children, Brenda of Eau Claire, Barbara, (Mike), Biesterveld of Durand, Bonnie, (Mike), Brunner of Hudson, Dan, (Jane), of Durand, Donna, (Mark) Scheevel of Harmony, MN, Denise, (Ted), Janzow of Rochester.

He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, Troy, (Sheri), Biesterveld, Jill, (Matt), Hoyt, Ben Biesterveld, Allisa, (Delip), Cotter, Adam, (Sarah), Brunner, Lisa, (Chad), Hanson, Sara, (Patrick), Cotter, Ryan Weisenbeck, Drew, (Kari), Scheevel, Derek Scheevel and Leah Scheevel, Lauren Janzow and Steven Janzow; 13 great grandchildren, Dylan, Victoria, Ella, and Reagan Biesterveld, Emma and Lucy Hoyt, Thelma, Esther, and Florence Cotter, Benji and Lucy Brunner, Adeline and Greta Hanson, and 2 expected.

Also surviving Darrell are 4 sisters, Rita, (Earl), Hetrick of Nelson, Sister Joan Weisenbeck of LaCrosse, Sister Marlene Weisenbeck of LaCrosse, LuAnn, (Bruce), Kaatz of Eau Claire; 3 brothers, Father Jude Weisenbeck of Milwaukee, Larry, (Mary Lou), of New Richmond, Arnold, (Edie), of Durand; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Daniel Mark Scheevel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church, Durand, WI. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of mass at church. The interment will follow the service in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to express a special thanks for the wonderful care received from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and St. Elizabeth’s Home Health Care during Darrell’s final days.
