Alma Lilly Talford age 56 of Rock Falls, lost her four year battle with cancer on Wednesday August 7, 2013 at her home in the Township of Rock Creek.

Alma was born June 13, 1957 in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of Everett and Delores (Kranzusch) Hallsey. She lived in Tacoma for a few years before moving to Illinois. Alma entered foster care with Chuck and Jean Ninas in Spooner, WI where Alma graduated from Spooner High School in 1976. Alma attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. While at College, she met and later married David Talford on May 3, 1980 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. After marriage they made their home in the Township of Peru where they raised their family and farmed. In 2005 they moved to the Rock Creek Township and continued farming. In addition to raising her family, Alma also worked at the Durand Theater and was actively involved in all her children's school activities. She was currently working for the United States Census Bureau as a Field Representative.

Alma was an avid reader; she enjoyed music, her cats, helping on the farm. She was a strong believer in education and actively encouraged her children to pursue further education. Most of all she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren.

Alma is survived by her husband, David Arnold; six children, Rachel (Rusty) Kummer of Rock Falls; Ruth Talford of Woodbury, MN; Rebecca (fiancé` Dave Clausen) Talford of Rock Falls; David Andrew Talford of Rock Falls; Deborah (Thomas) Odenwalder of Lakewood, CO; Sara Talford of Rock Falls; three grandchildren, Brandy and Alex Kummer and Jaden Hoyt; four sisters, June Krause of Iron River; Sandra Ninas-Scheffel of Manhattan, KS; Mary Hallsey of Hayward; Judy Radtke of Burnsville, MN; one brother, Roy Hallsey of Almena; She is preceded in death by her parents, and her foster parents.
