Christine L. "Chris" Fisher

Christine Louise Fisher breathed her last breath on June 25, 2014 and was carried by angels to her loving savior Jesus Christ.

Christine was born on July 27, 1946 to Jay and Mildred (Hackbart) Jorgensen in Merrill, Wisconsin. After graduating from New Richmond High School in 1964, Christine attended UWEC and received a Bachelor’s Degree in vocal music education. While attending UWEC, Christine met Stephen Fisher. They married on February 17, 1968 and settled in Durand, Wisconsin in 1977.

Christine spent 39 years in the banking industry and in 2006 she retired as Vice President of Human Resources for M&I bank. Christine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was the Sunday School Director as well as a Sunday school teacher. Christine was active in the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Christine is survived by her husband Stephen Fisher; children: James (Heidi) Fisher of Minot, ND, Stephen (Shelly) Fisher of Dousman, WI, and Lea (Mike) Kralewski of Durand, WI; Brothers: Tom (Arlet) Jorgensen of Menomonie, WI and Dick (Terrie) Jorgensen of Eagan, MN; mother-in-law: Verda Fisher of Durand, WI and brother-in-law: James (Rhonda) Fisher of Billings, MT. Christine is also survived by eight grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, and family.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents Jay and Mildred Jorgensen, paternal grandparents Ole and Signe Jorgensen, maternal grandparents Charles and Johannah Hackbart, father-in-law James Fisher and nephew Joel Jorgensen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Durand with Rev. Daniel Pfaffe officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

For the past several years approximately 15 of us girls from high school would gather for several days to laugh and remember our years together in New Richmond. She will be missed. Our hearts go out to the entire family.

    I am so very surprised and sorry to learn of Chris's passing. She was always kind and thoughtful when I worked with her at Valley/M&I. Only later did I find out she was Tom's sister as well. Hugh and I are praying for hearts' ease and wonderous memories for all who love her. Your greatest consolation is knowing she is at peace with her Lord and Savior.

    My daughter Diane and I met Chris at one of the LWML
    Conventions, I can't recall which one. We missed her as we thought she would be at the Pittsburgh.Pa Convention and then we heard that she was ill. She was so nice to know and hoped to know her better, but now we will have to wait until we see her in Heaven. You have all our sympathy.
