Marie L. Kalina age 85 of Menomonie,
Died: Tuesday June 3, 2008 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Marie was born July 25, 1922 in Washington, D.C. the daughter of Charles H. and Marie (Stephen) Porter, but grew up in the Richmond Virginia area. After high school during WW II, Marie worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for several years. Marie married George Kalina November 21, 1942 at Fort Meade, MD. After the WW II they moved to Chicago where they resided for about 25 years and raised their family. In 1972 they moved to Menomonie where Marie remained the rest of her life. George died in 2003. Marie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church; she was an avid reader and an excellent cook.
Marie is survived by two daughters, June (Peter) Schults of Newcomber, OH; Katherine (Kirk) Fisher of Cummings, GA; three sons, George Jr. (Randene) of Rice Lake; Charles (Claire) of Endeavor; Thomas (Brenda) of Boyceville; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Kalina of Menomonie; Eugenia “Gene” Knox of Hernando, FL.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband George; a brother Louis Porter and a sister Charlotte Davis.
