Growing up Aunt Marie and Uncle Mike were very special in our lives. My dad was one of Mike's younger brothers. They would come to Mondovi to visit us in the summer and again at Christmas. I remember the first time I knew there were removable teeth...Aunt Marie had gotten dentures and I caught her cleaning them! Special memories of Christmas Day and dinner at the Fishers in Durand. We always had to wait for Mike and Marie to get there before we could open presents. I always looked forward to the gift of books and still have a couple that I share with my grandsons. When I was 13 I road the train to Milwaukee and stayed with Mike and Marie to celebrate my graduation from 8th grade. I felt pretty special!!
My dad was always in construction so we did not take family vacations often, but the ones I remember were to Milwaukee!!! I have lived in Colorado for 36 years and Marie always remembered us with a Christmas card until she had her stroke. I did get to visit her one time at the nursing home. She was a special lady and role model in my life
